ClayFighter: Infinite Clayfare was a fangame made in 2022 under the fighting engine M.U.G.E.N by creator Basara-kun, who already created characters from this game series. The game was released in 2022 as Beta 1, containing 15 characters and 18 stages from all the series, since first ClayFighter to Sculptor's Cut. Later in August 2023, he released the Beta 2 with 6 new characters and 7 new stages, as well fixes on old characters and the screenpack. However, a C&D mail was sent to him by Interplay time later and the game ended being cancelled.

About the game[]

The game's creator, Basara-kun, is a famous M.U.G.E.N creator who made a lot of chars, but also is recently known for make ClayFighter chars from various of the games with ClayFighter 63⅓ gameplay, included from ClayFighter and C2: Judgement Clay (and even from ClayFighter Extreme with the April Fools version of Hobo Cop). Since 2022 he started to work into a ClayFighter fullgame, compiling all the chars he already made for M.U.G.E.N and creating his own screenpack, and using 63⅓ Lifebars he already made for normal M.U.G.E.N. He released the Beta 1 in December 24th 2022 and Beta 2 in August 18th 2023, but he says he will keep working until the game is finished.

Official Story[]

Another meteorite has fallen on Klaymodo Island, where Dr Kiln, wishing to expand on his previous success in Mudville and Clayland Park, schemes to cover the island with clay as part of his plans for world domination. Heroes from the past, Bad Mr. Frosty, Blob and Taffy, the superheroes Earthworm Jim and Boogerman (the latter of whom went on vacation there without realizing what was happening), as well as new allies like some Kiln's creations that turned against him went to the island to stop him and his minions.
Planning on the heroes attempting to corner him after Blob summoned several Clayfighters who competed in older tournaments to the island, Kiln created copies of all the participants to serve as his own personal army. However, what he did not realize was that many of those clones still remained as pure of heart as their original counterparts, while also seeking to betray him and bring him down for good.
The conflict between Kiln and the ClayFighters escalates to a much grander scale. Who will become the one who puts an end to Kiln’s ambitions first? Or will Kiln finally achieve his goal of molding the world into his own personal clay wasteland?

Cancellation[]

In September 2023, Basara-kun stated that a Cease and Desist mail was sent from Interplay about cancel and delete his game from the net. He got screenshots of said mail, which eventually got leaked from the forum and uploaded to Twitter/X, spawning the anger of fans and getting some news about it.

With the help of members of Mugen Fighters Guild he made an answer stating that his game was a non-profit fanart and homage to the series. However, a second mail came and they continued with deleting the content, finally coming in the cancellation of the game and deleting it and all references he made in his social networks and in his site.

Future[]

After the cancellation of his game, Basara-kun released publicly the motif/screenpack of the game, encouraging fans to recreate the game now by themselves, since all his characters have been released previously, as well options from other creators. Also, he stated that even when the game is over, he'll continue to make ClayFighter chars from 63 1/3 and Sculptor's Cut as he did until now, stating that T-Hoppy will be the next one to be made.

Also, time after the cancellation of Infinite Clayfare, Basara-kun leaked the 2 secret characters in his personal Twitter unveiled for the game until now: Hobo Cop and Klaymen from The Neverhood and Skullmonkeys game series, who would be the second guest character for his game after Kung Fu Man (M.U.G.E.N.'s mascot) and the fourth guest also counting Earthworm Jim and Boogerman, with the promise that both will be finished for 2024. Also he leaked other 4 secret characters from the series: Ickybod Clay (CF1 ver.), Bonker (CF1 ver.), Slyck and Bad Mr. Frosty (with Extreme exclusive sprites and moves), but these ones won't be made like Hobo Cop and Klaymen.

Trivia[]

  • The creator stated he always wanted to make a fullgame like this and is a dream come true to achieve it with this Beta 1.
  • Apart of the characters from the first 2 games, various of the Nintendo 64 games have extra content, like some new moves, claytalities and intros against other characters (like the one of Bad Mr. Frosty vs. Sumo Santa shown in the Release Trailer.)
    • The character with the bigger change is High Five, making a complete version (called by Basara-kun as "Arrange ver.") with throws, variations of his moves, new supers, the complete combo system from 63 1/3 and claytalities.
  • Now that exist ripped sprites of Hobo Cop from ClayFighter Extreme, the author stated that he will make a correct adaptation of him for M.U.G.E.N instead of the April Fools version he made in 2019 and he will be part of this fullgame. Now that the game was cancelled, he stated that Hobo Cop will be made anyway for normal M.U.G.E.N.
  • The name of the fullgame could be based on ClayFighter: Call of Putty, also as a pun on Call of Duty game series.
  • The author himself stated he wanted to create something like the cancelled Untitled ClayFighter 2016 Game, with characters from every game as it was intended to be this cancelled sequel.
  • Blob is the only character in the game that wasn't made by Basara-kun, but by SneezeTHPS, who created Blob based on Basara-kun's Earthworm Jim and inspired by his CF chars. He liked so much that he included Blob in the game with some fixes to be compatible with the game. He eventually hosted the original Blob in his site as well.
