ClayFighter is a fighting video game series created by Visual Concepts, and Interplay. ClayFighter has had several entries in the franchise, all of which can be viewed below. A ClayFighter game is supposedly in the works, though no official news has surfaced on the project since its confirmation in 2015.

Canon games[]

ClayFighter[]

In the first game, a clay meteor hits a circus and turns a bunch of the workers into clay figures. A tournament is held to see who would be the king of the circus.

Characters introduced:

C2: Judgement Clay[]

Dr. Kiln (mentioned in the manual but not the real game) spreads some of the residue from the meteor around the town of Mudville to turn them into clay. He holds the Grand Master of Mudville Tournament.

Non-canon Games[]

ClayFighter Tournament edition[]

A re-release of Clayfighter.

ClayFighter: Sculptor's Cut[]

Due to Clayfighter 63 1/3 being rushed for the Christmas season, Interplay re-released this updated version of the game exclusively as a Blockbuster rental for a short time.

Characters introduced:

Cancelled Games[]

Several ClayFighter projects have been announced by Interplay, and then quietly cancelled. These include:

ClayFighter: Special Edition[]

An enhanced update of C2 to be released in 3DO console, that was intended to include all missing content from the original release, including Claytalities. Eventually was cancelled since the console went to debacle and the team moved on to the ClayFighter III.

ClayFighter III[]

ClayFighter III was planned to be the launch game for Panasonic's M2 console. The game never saw the light of day due to the M2 being cancelled, but it's production was moved over to the N64 and PSX.

ClayFighter Extreme[]

ClayFighter Extreme was the working title for ClayFighter 63 1/3, and the original name was kept for the planned PlayStation release, but was cancelled because Interplay wasn't able to release it at the same time as the N64 version. If this would have happened, it would have been the first (and only) ClayFighter game to be released on the PlayStation. In 2021, a playable beta was leaked to the internet, which included the cancelled character Hobo Cop on it.

ClayFighter: Call of Putty[]

An update of Clayfighter Sculptor's Cut for Wiiware and DSi. It was intended to be released in 2011, but was quietly cancelled.

Untitled ClayFighter 2016 Game[]

On Feburary 28th, 2015, Interplay announced a new ClayFighter project was in the works, though no name was given to it.

On January 19th, 2016, a former staff member of Interplay who had worked as a background artist revealed that work on the project had likely ceased, mainly due to lack support and resources from Interplay's CEO.

Fangames[]

Due to the lack of official entries in the series since 1998, overzealous fans of the franchise have begun work on their own fan projects featuring the characters and gameplay mechanics of ClayFighter in them.

Super ClayFighter[]

The first known fangame for the ClayFighter series, made with the fighting game engine M.U.G.E.N by creator Xandegraf. The prototype fighter uses characters packs and stages he has created, as well as some from other elements from another creator, Metasponge64.

Ultra ClayFighter[]

A romhack of ClayFighter: Tournament Edition with new mechanics, removed content, and the addition of N. Boss (also redesigned) as a playable character from the beginning.

ClayFighter: Infinite Clayfare[]

Another full game made under M.U.G.E.N, by creator Basara-kun, with 63 1/3 gameplay, included from the first 2 games. Started and released a first beta in 2022, the game contains 15 characters from all games, including the engine's mascot Kung Fu Man as guest fighter. A second beta was released on 2023 but just as ReSculpted, the creator received a Cease and Desist mail from Interplay, being eventually cancelled.

ClayFighter: ReSculpted[]

A project made entirely with the Unity engine, and featuring 3D models designed as clay figures that started in 2022 but that was cancelled in July 2023 because Interplay sent a Cease and Desist mail towards his creator.
